Class
Requirements
All classes require
pre-registration, each class has a cut off date, which is 2 weeks before
class meets.
Supply list will be
provided for each class upon registration.
Fees are not refundable
or transferable.
Minimum class size is
6 students.*
in the case of cancellation of class because of lack
of registrants all fees will be refunded.
Just in case you
didn't know , You can take any of our classes with any make of sewing machine.
ELNA is our preferred machine however, we have sewing experience on many
different makes and models. Some machines have special features that make some
task easier than others. There are many ways and techniques and if you have a
machine that you like and it zig zags!, you will do just find.

Heirloom Embroidery and
Faggoting Project Class:

alterations. .
Learn Heirloom embroidery stitches: feather, colonial knots and lazy daisy.
The collar and front pleat is finished with red micro check tubing attached
with the old fagotting stitch. A beautiful antique technique that will
always be a classic.
Kits include: Pima
batiste, cotton tubing, embroidery threads, buttons, pattern, and
instructional handout.

Learn French
machine sewing while making a sweet bonnet by machine suitable for coming home or any
special occasion. Techniques will be lace attachment ,entredeux to fabric
and lace, and puffing.
Included in the kit is, Swiss
batiste, lace edging, entredeux, lace insertion, ribbon, and instructional
handout.

Smocking with Stack Cables

stacked cables with simple one color designs. Then we will work on
multiple needles and changing colors.

basic stitches, practice and learn the proper techniques to smock an insert. Then you will learn to read and follow a
smocking graph, prepare a bishop to smock
and start your project. Last but not least you will learn the embroidery stitches
that compliment your smocking.

Bishop Demo

different fabrics (all those checks and plaids!) for a bishop. Learn how to pleat Bishops, plaids
and checked bishops. See how to prepare a bishop so you need not use a
continuous placket. Smock on a Board, learn how to eliminate turtle neck bishops and construct
perfect necks!! This is a notebook class, Bring a notebook to take notes.

Bring your own pleater in to learn the basic operations of a pleater.
Information to practice; Pleating straight, seams, curves, small
sections, overlays, broken needles, threads to use, and how much to
pleat. All of these will be discussed and practiced!

Basic Crochet Edges

French Machine Sewing

Learn to use your machine to it's
fullest potential for French Machine Sewing. Nine hours of demonstrations
and hands on practice will give you a permanent index of all the techniques
and machine settings. Over 22 techniques of machine sewing
with lace, materials and entredeux. All techniques will be executed and sampled in a note book for
future reference. You will learn what foot works better than others, tension
settings for special effects and much more.
Kit includes: work book pages, lace,
entredeux, and fabrics.

Semi-Annual Coat Class

class which includes: lining, facing, interfacings, pleats, stay
stitching, and seam finishing.

*** Sit &
Sews ***
Do you need
encouragement, a boost, or just a place to finish or start a project for
your precious one? That special project could be sewing, smocking,
embroidery or heirloom. We have the class room set up for you to claim
your space! Get away from distraction at home, join us and create. The
Sit & Sews are not a substitution for the basic instructional classes,
but a continuation or refresher of them. Chris or Anna Marie will be
with you to answer your questions and guide you through any rough spots.
A small fee of $10.00 will be collected when you register for the
session, this is to cover the cost of the instructor to stay with you
through out the day or night, depending on the session.
We have
also set up warehouse space to store machines if you want to park them
there until you return, there is no charge for storage! :-)
